A semi-inground pool sits partially recessed into the yard — deep enough to feel built-in, shallow enough to work with Long Island's high water table instead of fighting it. Across much of Nassau and Suffolk, groundwater sits close enough to the surface that a full inground dig means dewatering, engineering, and cost overruns. A semi-inground design needs only a partial-depth excavation, and wrapped in the right hardscape it delivers the built-in resort look at roughly half the cost of gunite.

A pool engineered to be installed partially below grade — typically recessed 2–3 feet — with reinforced walls that handle backfill on one side and exposure on the other. It is the middle path between above-ground and full inground, and the recessed design is why it suits Long Island's high-water-table lots so well.
